Working with what I got

I should really give a rundown of my situation so you can follow this post easily, so here I go!

First of all, I am from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada but I am currently living on the other side of the Province in a small town called Stephenville for college (Film and VIdeo Production). Now, I only really got my own first real snowskate this Christmas while I was home in St. Johns but it only took a few box sessions with a few other skaters to get me finally coming outside at winter.

All goods things end and Christmas came and went, along with some great set ups we built back home and I realized a few days before I started the journey back to Stephenville that I don't really own anything to make any boxes or obstacles to snowskate on. I figured I have to drive around this little town and see what wood is laying around that I could load in my trunk quickly and drive off. After twenty minutes or so of driving I found a few pieces of plywood and some 2/4's, enough to prop it up enough to call it a grindbox.

I set it up right after this little hill in my backyard and started progressing really fast, skating it as often as I can, chasing the short daylight or getting too tired to move. I live in an area with a large younger population, I would say 90% of them are under 13. I thought they would be annoying or they might destroy what you have built like city kids do but it turns out they're on my side! They were festinated with my "snowboard without the straps" and vowed to watch over the box and make sure nobody trashes it.

I would be skating it right now if it wasn't for this damn neck brace. You will always get hurt on the small, dumb things rather then the things you could brag about. I didn't even hurt my neck snowskating, I tried to jump onto a pic-nic table and slide across it with my skate shoes, something I have done a million times. There was a fair bit of frozen snow on the top of it and when I went for the slide, I just stopped and my neck whipped forward so here I am looking at my awesome ghetto, homemade setup that I won't be able to touch all weekend.
